Cocktails Built Only with French Spirits
Le Syndicat opened on Faubourg Saint-Denis in 2014 with an unusual constraint: every cocktail must use only French spirits. No bourbon, no Scotch, no Italian amari, no London dry gin. The result is a cocktail menu that champions Calvados, Cognac, Chartreuse, French gin, French rum from the Caribbean territories, and a depth of French herbal liqueurs you cannot find elsewhere.
The room is graffiti-covered and intentionally rough — the bar wants you to focus on the drinks. The cocktail programme is technically precise. The Marie Brizard Old Fashioned uses French Marie Brizard liqueurs in place of bourbon. The Calvados Sour is benchmark.
The crowd is mid-thirties Paris locals and visiting cocktail enthusiasts. Pair with Little Red Door for a complete Paris world-ranked cocktail evening.
