The Pitch

What Terrarium Is

Terrarium stacks a cocktail bar, a kitchen, and a plant filled rooftop terrace behind the Howard Street entrance at 99 St Georges Terrace. Urban List covered the opening as the CBD's lushest rooftop, and the greenhouse styling has held up better than most opening week adjectives.

The terrace sits framed by office towers like a courtyard cut into the skyline, which makes it intimate where most Perth roofs are exposed. The Aviary up the Terrace is the big, loud rooftop for Friday crowds. Terrarium is the one you book.

Perth is OK and Urban List both rank the cocktail program among the best in the CBD, and OpenTable diners back the claim with consistent ratings.

The Room

Reading the Room

Multi level, heavy on greenery, with the rooftop terrace as the closing argument. The lower bar handles the spillover when Perth weather has opinions.

The terrace capacity is genuinely small. That is the charm and the booking problem in one sentence.

The Drinks

The Menu, Edited

01
A signature cocktail on the terrace
The list is the point of the visit. Staff earn the knowledgeable tag OpenTable reviewers keep using; let them steer.
02
Steak tartare and arancini
The two most cited plates in diner reviews. Built for sharing over a second round.
03
Sticky pork belly bites
The crowd favorite for a reason. Order them before the kitchen queue forms at 7pm.
The Crowd

Who Shows Up, and When

CBD after work trade Tuesday to Friday, with Friday opening early at 2pm for the long run. Saturday skews date night. Sunday and Monday the room rests.

OpenTable reviews describe the atmosphere as lively and chic, which translates to busy but not shouty.

Before You Go

The entrance hides on Howard Street, a laneway off St Georges Terrace. Both Perth Underground and Elizabeth Quay stations are about six minutes away.

Book the terrace for golden hour; Perth sunsets do half the bartending. Friday from 2pm is the soft launch of the weekend.
