Our Take on Quip Sky Bar
Five floors above Phuket Road, the deck at Quip Sky Bar looks out over a grid of tin roofs and Sino Portuguese facades that street level Old Town never shows you. The bar tops the Quip Bed and Breakfast, a restored shophouse, and Phuket 101 records it as the first rooftop bar in Phuket Town.
The fit out stays simple on purpose: wooden deck, rattan chairs, fairy lights, and a menu of Thai plates and cocktails priced for the neighborhood rather than the resorts.
KKday lists it among Phuket's top eight bars for exactly that gap: sunset views at Old Town prices.
Reading the Room
The deck wraps the roofline with low tables at the rail and deeper seating behind. Siam2nite notes the laidback register: no DJ pressure, conversation level music, the town doing the entertaining below.
Arrive at the 5pm open for the light; the kitchen sends lobster and Thai snacks until close.

Who Shows Up, and When
Old Town walkers and Quip hotel guests come early, then a steady mix of travelers who read past the beach strips. It rarely roars; the view is the room.
Daily from 5pm to midnight, and the hour either side of sunset is the seat worth planning around.
The Word on the Street
- Phuket 101 records it as Phuket Town's first rooftop bar and still its most relaxed.
- KKday places it among the island's top eight bars for value.
- Kata Rocks' Old Town guide sends visitors here for the heritage roofline view.
- Siam2nite files it as a laidback bar rather than a club, and regulars like it that way.
Go, or Skip
- Old Town wanderers who want height without resort prices
- Couples timing sunset over the shophouse roofs
- Avoid if you want a party; the volume stays low
