Tanjong Beach Club is Sentosa's open-air beach lounge, house-DJ-driven, sunset-timed, with a pool, a sound system, and a cocktail programme that is more capable than most beach clubs are. The right call for a long Sunday.
The room is built around an oval pool fronting the beach. Day beds line the pool; the bar runs the length of the west side; the kitchen does Mediterranean-inflected small plates. The day starts slow (DJs from 1pm) and ends around 10pm; this is not a late-night destination.
The DJ programme is well chosen for the format, Balearic, deep house, disco-edits, occasional live percussion. The Sunday Tanjong Sessions, run by the in-house team, are the booking that pulls travellers and locals together. Day-bed reservations are essential on weekends and the minimum spend is S$300–S$500 depending on the position; the bar seats are walk-in.
The cocktail list is short and built for the heat. The Tanjong Spritz, Aperol, prosecco, soda, fresh basil, salt rim, is the bar's signature and the right opening order. The Frozen Daiquiri is well made (white rum, fresh lime, palm sugar) and the menu's wine programme is unusually deep for a beach club. Tanjong is the right call when you want music and water and not very much else.
Best time to visit: Weekday evenings before 9pm for the quieter version of the room; weekends after 9pm for the busier one. Reservations recommended where the bar accepts them.
