Bangkok s Indigenous Spirits Specialists

Mahaniyom — the Thai word for 'specialty' — opened in 2020 to champion indigenous Thai spirits and botanicals. Lao khao (Thai rice spirit), kaffir lime, lemongrass, butterfly pea, mango, and tamarind all feature on the menu in ways more famous Bangkok bars do not attempt.

The room is small and design-forward, with around 30 seats. The bartenders are research-led and explain each drink's provenance. The Lao Khao Highball is the signature: Thai rice spirit, soda, fresh lime, served tall and refreshing.
