Our Take on The
pub The Sportsman is the Govan-side Rangers pub that anchors one half of the Old Firm geography on the south of the river, within easy walking distance of Ibrox. The room is unapologetically partisan — the colours, the songbook, the matchday rituals all run on a tradition that long predates most of the regulars — and the screen layout is built around the Rangers feed before anything else.
The beer programme is competent if conventional: heavy, lager, a rotating cask line, and a respectable whisky shelf. The food is pre-match working pub fare, with the pies and the bridies both doing exactly what they need to.
The room is genuinely full on matchdays and runs quieter midweek. It ranks fifth because, within the partisan-pub category, the Sportsman holds itself to its tradition more consistently than most equivalents.
