Big in Japan is the Plateau speakeasy hidden behind an unmarked black door on Boulevard Saint-Laurent, push it open into a long, dim, low-ceilinged room straight out of 1970s Tokyo.
The space is candlelit, the music is jazz, and the cocktail list runs about ten tight builds, a yuzu sour, a saké negroni, a smoked old fashioned. Bar food is short: edamame, gyoza, tataki. Conversation-volume room.
