Our Take on Frenchette
list · Iconic Frenchette is on this list as a wine bar in spite of being one of New York's most-booked restaurants, because the bar at the front of the room runs an independent service that any walk-in can sit at. The list is among the most serious in the city — a Loire section that goes deep into older vintages, a Burgundy bench priced more honestly than its postcode would suggest, and a Champagne offering that includes growers nobody else in Tribeca is pouring by the glass.
Lee Hanson and Riad Nasr's team rotate the staff through formal wine training in a way most restaurants no longer bother with. It earns the fourth slot because the front-room wine bar is, on its own, better than most stand-alone wine bars in the city.
