Our Take on Bar
· Wine + dining Bar Crenn is Dominique Crenn's Cow Hollow wine room, opened next door to Atelier Crenn in 2018 and built around the most classical-French wine programme in San Francisco. Wine director Daniel Renouf runs a cellar that goes deep into Burgundy first-growths and Champagne grower work (Selosse, Egly-Ouriet, Cédric Bouchard), with a Loire and Rhône section that genuinely tracks small producers rather than negociants.
The by-the-glass rotation uses Coravin to pull from older vintages. Service is theatrically French in a way only Crenn herself can pull off. Ranks fourth because the format is more restaurant-bar than wine bar and the prices are firmly four-figure, but the cellar discipline is genuinely world-class.
