Wine Bars $$

The most internationally diverse SoMa programme, with eighteen Coravin pours and serious half-glass comparisons.

list · Modern District on Townsend Street has run a serious by-the-glass programme since opening in 2008, and the cellar has been quietly broadened over the years into one of SoMa's most internationally diverse, Burgundy, Mosel, Etna, Australian Yarra and South African Swartland all appear with weekly rotation. Wine director Sarah Trubnick runs the floor and the cellar with a calm precision that the noisy industrial-loft format does not advertise.

The by-the-glass list runs eighteen references opened by Coravin, with serious half-glass programmes for tasting comparisons. Ranks seventh because the cellar breadth is genuine and the SoMa location fills a working-night gap in the city's wine geography.
