Our Take on Freundchen
· Wine list Freundchen is the Charlottenburg room that has finally given the western half of Berlin a wine bar worth crossing the city for. Opened in 2022 by two former Cordobar staffers, it leans Austrian — Nikolaihof, Heinrich, Tschida, Strohmeier — with a serious orange-wine section and a Mosel selection drawn from the Müller and Weiser-Künstler axis.
The room is small and neat in a way Charlottenburg appreciates, the food is short and serious, and the by-the-glass rotation runs around eighteen references with weekly turn. Ranks fifth because the cellar is narrower than the top rooms but the Austrian focus is the city's strongest, and the Mosel temperature is, almost uniquely, correct.
