Le Violon — Plateau
Le Violon is Danny Smiles's Plateau restaurant-bar — the cocktail programme is one of the most thought-out in the city and the room is the closest thing Montréal has to a proper grown-up date-night cocktail bar.
The bar runs a tight rotating cocktail menu of around eight drinks plus a serious champagne and grower-fizz list. The kitchen is French-leaning with strong fish and an excellent chocolate dessert. The crowd is mid-thirties, well-dressed, conversational.
Reservations 14+ days ahead Friday-Saturday. Bar seats are first-come.
