Bar Pun opened in Zhongshan in 2019 with a menu of cocktails whose names are deliberately, almost aggressively, puns on classic cocktails and Taiwanese cultural references. The bar treats the wordplay as the entry point, first you laugh, then you taste the drink, then you realise the pun is doing actual work in describing what is in the glass. Bar Pun keeps the menu rotating; the six above are the standing winter menu, refreshed roughly every quarter. The bar's seriousness about cocktail-making is sometimes obscured by the lighter framing; do not let the pun-list put you off. The drinks are properly built.
