Montreal takes the after work hour seriously, and the city rewards it with wine bars, tiki rooms and speakeasies that fill the moment offices empty. The best sit downtown, across the Plateau and Mile End, and down in Saint Henri and Old Montreal. We sorted the natural wine lists, the local guides and the cinq a sept crowd to land on these ten.
Start downtown, where Furco, Pullman and Cloakroom sit within a few blocks of the office towers. The rest reward a walk into the Plateau, Mile End and Old Montreal.
The Plateau keeps the loud, easy rounds, Saint Henri holds the natural wine, and Old Montreal hides the small speakeasies. None sit far by metro, so a two bar evening is simple to plan.
For a wine first evening, start at Pullman or Le Vin Papillon and let the list lead. For something later and darker, point yourself at Cloakroom or Le Coldroom and settle in. Either way, Montreal turns the after work hour into the best part of the day.
